Questions to ask any recruiting provider
Evaluate the provider against your actual role and hospital requirements. Request clear answers and written terms rather than relying on a generic ranking.
- Who sources candidates and what screening is performed?
- What will our practice need to do during the search?
- What becomes payable if the search does not result in a hire?
Prepare the role brief
Write down the information a candidate needs to evaluate the position before the search begins.
- Specify overnight, weekend and holiday coverage.
- Explain triage, critical-care capability and referral escalation.
- Describe technician staffing, handovers and schedule recovery.
Plan the work location in Las Vegas.
Name the street address, the municipality or county town and the county, and geocode any address with a Las Vegas mailing name, because Paradise, Winchester, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Sunrise Manor, Whitney, Summerlin South and Lone Mountain all use Las Vegas mail while sitting in unincorporated Clark County. Laughlin lies at the Arizona and California lines and Mesquite near the Arizona and Utah lines. Coverage on this site is limited to Nevada; a hospital in another state falls under a different licensing authority.
Give the hiring team one brief for each facility, with clinical work, technician delegation, weekend duties and location commitments stated together. Nevada asks veterinarians for 40 hours of continuing education in each 24-month license period, so state the support the practice provides. O*NET OnLine, using Bureau of Labor Statistics 2025 wage data, lists a median annual wage for veterinarians in the Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas area close to the Nevada median and below the national median, which is context candidates may bring to an offer. The College of Southern Nevada’s AVMA-accredited Veterinary Nursing program prepares technicians for the VTNE and the Nevada technician exam, and a graduate of any AVMA-accredited veterinary school can apply for a Nevada license. This site describes employer hiring coverage without claiming a Las Vegas recruiting office.
Review Las Vegas-area recruiting coverage →Local context for this role
VEG states that its Las Vegas hospital at 800 South Rampart Boulevard is open 24 hours, seven days a week, walk-in, for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles and exotic animals, and that its Henderson hospital on North Stephanie Street is open 24/7 with urgent care, endoscopy, surgery, digital x-ray and ultrasound; Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center’s emergency hospital on West Tropicana Avenue states hours of 24 hours, 365 days a year. NAC 638.069 bars a Las Vegas facility from using the term 24 hours in public statements unless a licensed veterinarian is on the premises 24 hours a day, and NAC 638.068 sets separate rules for on-call emergency service. A Las Vegas emergency brief should therefore say which model the hospital runs, who holds controlled-drug records on a night shift under NAC 638.0628, and how the Las Vegas team hands admitted patients to the morning doctor.
Plan Nevada credential checks before the start date.
Nevada licenses veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians and veterinary facilities through the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, whose consumer page links its Find a Licensee or Veterinary Facility search. Assign a person to verify license status and the expiration date, record the verification date and resolve questions with the Board. Check any additional specialty credentials required by the employer with the issuing organization.
